There are many reasons why we do not take insurance…
Confidentiality. Insurance companies require take your information be shared with them in order to validate insurance to pay out for services. We want to make sure your confidentiality is always our primary concern and do our best to minimize releasing your private information.
The pressure to diagnose. Insurance companies require that clients be given a mental health diagnosis to pay for services. Not using insurance allows you to access counseling services without the need to diagnose.
And on the flip side, if clients do meet the criteria for a diagnosis, the client can discern whom to share that information with. It allows the client to be in the driver’s seat of their therapeutic journey.

Self pay allows both you and your therapist to collaborate to determine your unique needs regarding session length, frequency and when you are ready to terminate therapy.
